Dental Appliance Care:
Appropriate care of your appliance is necessary to maintain its fit and function. To prevent damage to your appliance, insert and remove the appliance as instructed. Do not insert your appliance with one hand and bite it into place. You may warm your appliance before inserting it. Place your appliance in a cup of hot tap water for 30-60 seconds and then insert with both hands. To remove the appliance, gently release from the back teeth on one side and then the other until the appliance releases.
Please keep your appliance in the retainer case provided when it is not worn. Please do not use red, orange, or yellow mouth rinses, as this will stain your appliance. Keep your appliance away from small children and pets.
Keeping your appliance clean is important for your oral hygiene and the longevity of your splint. Calculus can build up on your appliance from plaque and bacteria, eventually affecting the fit. Cleaning your appliance daily will prevent build-up and odors. You may wash it with soap and water, use Retainer Brite or Polident 3-minute cleaning tablets, or brush it with your regular toothpaste and water to safely clean your appliance.
